Please bring cash for raffles etc. Thursday 27th February - Saturday 1st March; Barry Illsley sponsored 72 hole match play tournament; A smaller field than hoped, so a reduced format 54 holes. But we aren't giving up. Next year will be bigger and better. Pennants; A good start for Championship 1, Handicap 2 and Handicap 4 all having wins last Sunday. Well done teams. Congratulations Rod Henricksen for shooting below his age on Tuesday 12th. I believe 75 on his 76th birthday. We all now how this sport goes, won the Kit Kat on Thursday 14th. Saturday 15th February; Summer Cup Round 3 matches. Open Club Championship Qualifying Round. Explanation. Every member is entitled too if they choose, to play in the Open Championship. Most commonly referred too as the Senior Championship. If you were to qualify in the top 16, you are then entered in the Match Play section. If however, you do not make the top 16, you cannot go back to your normal Championship group for that year. Senior is traditionally plus to 10 handicap, but as above if you are outside this bracket you can try to qualify. (Any questions, please refer to Captains Zane & Peter) Duty Match Chalky & Ritchie, House Stephen Sunday 16th February; Round 1, Golf Hawkes Bay Pennant competition. We have 4 teams this year. Championship 1, are playing at home, tee off is 10.30am, Championship 3 and handicap 2 are both at Napier, Handicap 4 plays at Hawkes Bay. Best of luck guys. Saturday 22nd February; Marae Tournament 11am Shot gun Start. Please use the entry sheet in the foyer, so a draw can be started before Saturday. Last weekend we hosted two events at our course. Friday & Saturday we had the Clubs NZ Ladies event, and Sunday the Motor Homes Association final day of the Tararua tournament. A vote of thanks goes to all members who assisted from registration night Thursday night right through until dinner Sunday evening. Both events were good for the club, but also the wider Tararua community, with accomodation, meals out, general grocery purchases etc. We run these events to show case our course, and get money circulating in the community. I feel some of our members need to take a more positive attitude to what happens, and the hours put in to run these events. Support is always appreciated. Clubs NZ North Island Ladies Championship. Twenty teams of three, played a nett teams competition. Congratulations to Dannevirke team1, Margaret Stephenson, Marilyn Hall and Joy Charmley, for winning this tournament. Dannevirke number 2 team of Angela Farrell, Gillian Dailey and Jolanda Vanvileit came a credible 9th. Dannevirke teams have attended nearly all the 35 years this event has been running, starting some years back with the late Beryl Brausch, Gwen Murphy and Bernice Roche . Well done ladies, and again thank you to all who helped host this event. Summer run is back.
